Prof. Syed Javaid is a Consultant Psychiatrist specializing in later-life psychiatry, dementia, and cognitive disorders. He is Associate Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at UAE University and practices at Sakina Mental Health, Abu Dhabi. A Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), he completed specialist psychiatric training in the UK and previously served as an NHS Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist. Dr. Javaid has authored over 60 publications and is actively involved in research, medical education, and mental health advocacy.

Dr. Mohammed Saidam is a Consultant Neurologist at ACPN. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.CH.B) from Al-Basra University in Iraq in 2003 and completed his Doctorate in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2010. He underwent neurology residency and fellowship at King Abdullah University Hospital in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Saidam holds the Jordanian Board Certification in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN). He is a licensed consultant with DOH, Abu Dhabi.
With over two decades of clinical experience across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, Dr. Saidam led neurology departments at Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital and NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi playing a key role in establishing neurophysiology labs and multidisciplinary clinics. He is highly experienced in managing epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular disorders, alongside conducting advanced EEG/EMG diagnostics. He is also a former Assistant Professor and Research Doctor at King Abdullah University’s Faculty of Medicine. His leadership includes mentoring junior physicians, aligning clinical practices with global standards, and advising pharmaceutical boards.
Dr. Saidam’s areas of expertise include clinical neurophysiology, movement disorders, and headache medicine. He runs specialized clinics for migraine and chronic headaches using IV infusions and Botox therapy. He is also a recognized expert in treating movement disorders like cervical dystonia and hemifacial spasm with botulinum toxin, operating a dedicated Botox clinic. Dr. Yasir Hameed is a Consultant in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry and Division Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at Sakina. Dr. Ross Dunne is clinical lead for the award-winning brain Health Manchester Clinic. He has been a later life psychiatrist in GMMH in Manchester for 9 years since completing higher training as an NIHR ACF (Dementia) in Cambridge. He is the dementia theme lead for the Manchester Academic Health Science Network, and runs the Greater Manchester Dementia Research Centre, conducting clinical trials on biomarkers, disease modifying medications and neuroimaging in Alzheimer’s and other diseases underlying dementia. He is a board member and dementia theme co-lead in the University of Manchester’s Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre, a novel interdisciplinary research centre focused on rapid translation. Mrs. Carina Khoury Ghossoub is a licensed clinical dietitian at ACPN Dubai specializing in mental health nutrition and eating disorders, with certifications in both Lebanon and Dubai.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from NDU Lebanon and gained clinical experience in a hospital setting for three years before relocating to Dubai in 2016. Since 2018, she has been dedicated to providing personalized nutrition counseling in the UAE.
Carina holds a master’s degree in Psychological Medicine from London Metropolitan University, UK. She is also certified in CBT-E for eating disorders from CREDO, University of Oxford, and has received supervision from Dr. Riccardo Dalle Grave and Marcia Herrin, internationally recognized experts in the field of eating disorders.
Her mission is to help individuals of all ages and genders achieve their optimal health while fostering a positive relationship with food. Taking a holistic approach, she addresses chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and gastrointestinal disorders—guiding her patients toward sustainable, healthier lifestyles without restrictive diets.
Beyond physical health, Carina provides specialized support for mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and emotional eating.
For the past seven years, she has been part of ACPN’s multidisciplinary team, working with individuals affected by anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and ARFID.

Dr. Shivam Om Mittal, MD, is a Staff Physician within the Neurology Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Neurological Institute.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mittal was a Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Specialist and Consultant Neurologist at Columbia Asia Hospital and Vikram Hospital, Bangalore, India.
Dr. Mittal received his medical degree from Datta Meghe University of Medical Sciences University, Wardha, India. He completed his Neurology residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He did postdoctoral fellowship in Botulinum Toxin Treatment at the prestigious Yale University, where he initiated several clinical studies and streamlined unique treatment options for movement disorders. To pursue his interest further in the field of Clinical Movement Disorders, he completed a fellowship in Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders at the Renowned Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA.
Dr. Mittal returned to India after completing his residency and advance training in USA to work in busy tertiary hospitals in south India, where he was able to develop a Movement Disorders Department to cater to a large population with facilities of deep brain stimulation and botulinum toxin injections. He has performed botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for more than 1,000 patients for common conditions, such as writer’s cramp, cervical dystonia, hemifacial spasms, blepharospasm and spasticity. He also performed Botox injections for uncommon indications, such as essential tremor, parkinson’s disease tremor, drooling of saliva, excessive sweating and oromandibular dystonia. He had solid exposure to a range of neurological disorders along with his commitment to high-quality health care, first-class training and treatment skills and an indubitable desire to continually improve the quality of life of the patients. His motto is patient centered care and finds gratification in being responsible and taking care of his patients.

Christian Lampl, MD, PhD, serves as a full Professor of Neurology at the
Konventhospital Barmherzige Brüder in Linz, Austria. He is Head of the
Department of Neurology with Stroke Unit and Director of the Headache Medical Center Linz. Dr Lampl specializes in diagnosing and treating headache disorders, including migraines, cluster headaches, and other forms of chronic or daily headache. His research focuses on the management of head pain, with special interests in migraine, headache burden, migraine aura as a possible risk factor for migraine and stroke.

Saria El Hachem, MD is a Family Medicine Specialist currently practicing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates with a special interest in eating disorders and obesity-related conditions.

Dr. Tareq Qassem is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Maudsley Health Abu Dhabi. He graduated from Ain Shams University in Egypt where he worked as a Lecturer in Psychiatry after earning his Medical Doctorate. He then pursued further training in Old Age Psychiatry in the UK before attaining a Consultant role. She is passionate about increasing access to care among groups that have been historically overlooked in eating disorders research and treatment. Arielle has led multiple trials on Project Body Neutrality, a single-session intervention for improving body image in youth that is now available for free in collaboration with the National Eating Disorders Association (USA) and the mental health nonprofit Koko.

He earned his MD from Saint Joseph University of Beirut in 1993 and specialized in adult psychiatry at Paris Descartes Faculty of Medicine in 1997. Formerly Head of Psychiatry at Saint Charles Hospital, he also served as Professor and Head of Psychiatry at Lebanese University. His expertise spans mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and substance use, catering to both adults and children.

Mrs. Carine El Khazen is a Clinical Psychologist in Dubai with over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. When she arrived in Dubai in 2004, she was one of the very few licensed clinical psychologists in the UAE. Since then, she has played a pioneering role in shaping both the mental health landscape and specialized eating disorder care in the region. Her contributions include expanding access to evidence-based treatments, mentoring a new generation of clinicians, and advocating for structured, multidisciplinary approaches to care.
Carine holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Psychopathological Psychology from Saint Joseph University (Lebanon), a postgraduate degree (DESS) from the University of Paris V – Sorbonne, and a diploma in Profound Studies (DEA) in Clinical Psychopathology from the University of Paris VI – Jussieu. She trained in reputable psychiatric and general healthcare settings in the UK (The Maudsley Hospital), France (Sainte-Anne Hospital), and Lebanon (St. George University Hospital).
Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, sleep disorders, personality disorders, and interpersonal difficulties. She integrates multiple therapeutic modalities in her practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), psychodynamic therapy, and CBT for insomnia (CBT-I). Before joining the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology- Dubai branch, Carine worked for eight years at the General Medical Center in Dubai and served as a school psychologist in international schools and nurseries.
Since 2011, she has been part of ACPN, where she currently serves as the Clinical Lead for Psychology Services across the Dubai and Sharjah branches, leading a team of over 30 clinical psychologists. In addition to this role, Carine is internationally recognized for her pioneering work in the treatment of eating disorders in the Arab region. She founded and leads the region’s first multidisciplinary outpatient Eating and Weight Disorders Program, accredited as a CBT-E Center of Excellence. The program provides specialized care across all age groups for conditions such as anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder, ARFID, picky eating, and distress related to weight and body image. Committed to a non-stigmatizing, evidence-based approach, the team supports individuals in improving their physical and emotional well-being—regardless of body size—without promoting restrictive or appearance-focused practices. The program is fully multidisciplinary, bringing together clinical psychologists, dietitians, and medical doctors to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care.
A certified CBT-E therapist, trainer, and supervisor, Carine co-authored Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Young People: A Parent’s Guide (Routledge, 2021) with Dr. Riccardo Dalle Grave. She is a Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) and has contributed to the development of global AED standards, including the Core Curriculum and Minimum Standards of Care.
Committed to capacity-building, Carine has delivered professional trainings across the Middle East for clinical psychologists, dietitians, and medical doctors. Her most recent initiative is an online CBT-E training program tailored to the cultural needs of the region, offered in collaboration with Oxford University’s CREDO.
She has also organized five international eating disorder conferences in the UAE, in partnership with the AED, bringing together global experts like Prof. Daniel Le Grange, Janet Treasure, and Ulrike Schmidt.
Previously the Vice-President of the Middle East Eating Disorders Association (MEEDA), she is now in the process of establishing a new regional organization: the Arab Eating Disorders Association (AEDA), dedicated to raising awareness, promoting evidence-based care, and expanding access to treatment throughout the Arab world.

Maya Fleifel Sidani joined the American Center for Psychology and Neurology – Dubai Office as a Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of international experience gained in the USA, Egypt, and the UAE. Maya was most recently serving as Lead Clinical Psychologist at Al Noor Hospital (Abu Dhabi) from 2011-2015.
Prior to Al Noor Hospital, Maya was a Clinical Psychologist at the Human Relations Institute, in Dubai from 2004 to 2011. Before moving to the UAE, Maya resided in Egypt and served as a Researcher at the National Institute of Cancer; focusing on children with cancer. In 2001, Maya served as a Crisis Intervention Counselor at the Arab-American Family Support Center (Brooklyn, New York). She provided Counseling and Crisis Intervention support for the Arab-American community and handled numerous cases dealing with post 9/11 trauma. A frequent guest on Television and Radio shows covering parenting and childhood development issues, Maya is also a writer for prominent magazines and publications. Maya is also involved in community work, public awareness programs and workshops for schools and social organizations on relevant psychology and mental health subjects.
Maya offers her expertise to both UAE Nationals and Expatriate clients dealing with various psychological disorders such as Anxiety Disorders, including Panic Disorders, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Mood, and Adjustment Disorders.
